Our Rainbow Words are some of the most frequently used words in our language and are very important in helping your child learn to read. They are called high-frequency words or sight words. Students should be able to recognize these words on sight without having to sound them out. They are divided into colors to make learning them easier. Your child will be tested at school, beginning with purple words. Once he/she is able to name all words in that color, he/she will earn a raindrop of that color under his/her cloud on our bulletin board in addition to a certificate. Please help your child learn these words. Making flash cards is a great way to do this as well as finding them in books!
